How much is wasp nest removal? UK prices, read October 2026

Wasp nest removal is the cheapest job on a pest controller's sheet: the firms that publish a price ask between £47 and £200 for one nest, and the councils we read charge £88 to £129. It is also the job most tempting to DIY, and the maths looks obvious until a few hundred defenders come out of a nest you have just annoyed with an aerosol.

How much to remove a wasp nest through the council

Wasp nest treatment cost: what one visit covers
The visit is short: an insecticidal dust into the nest entrance, and the colony dies off over the following day or two. Most firms treat rather than physically remove; taking the dead nest away is optional and sometimes extra, and it matters less than people think, because wasps do not reuse old nests. A visible nest in the loft in January with nothing flying costs nothing to deal with.
- A second nest at the same visit is often cheaper: Vale Pest Control publishes £15 per additional nest.
- A wasp nest in the loft is a common job: Apex Pest Control publishes £120 for one.
- High or awkward access needing towers or long lances is priced at the top of the range or above, so describe it when you ask for a quote.
- Commercial wasp nest removal: none of the firms we read publishes a commercial wasp price, so it is not published here; ask for a quote on the site.
Why the DIY saving is a bad trade
- Stings come in volume. Disturb a live nest and wasps attack in numbers to defend it. Multiple stings, or any sting for someone with an allergy, can trigger anaphylaxis, a medical emergency (NHS guidance on stings).
- The nests worth paying for are the awkward ones. Eaves, lofts and airbricks mean ladders plus panicking insects.
- Retail sprays are weaker than professional products, and half-killing a nest makes the survivors defensive for days.
- The published prices start at £47 to £70. Against a day in A&E, it is not a close decision.
Bees are different
Honeybee swarms should not be treated: contact a local beekeeper or swarm collector, who will often take them at no cost. A decent pest controller will identify bees from your description or a photo and say so before charging a callout. If a firm quotes to spray "bees" without asking questions, get another firm.
